Creative writing: Press release

Annotations of Press release:
As Pretty Little Thing (PLT) is one of the top UK retailers for online fashion, I decided to centre my press release around Valentines Day. I wanted include insights into what can be expected within the experience, so I ensured to highlight them in bold, and provide a brief explanation to intrigue readers but also allow for an element of surprise for those who choose to attend. To promote the event, I thought adding in giveaways would generate excitement around the pop up, and potentially influence people to attend. PLT is known to include a diverse range of models and clothing sizes on their website, so I felt it was important to emphasis these factors in the press release as it’s something brands tend to lack. I aimed to keep a formal and concise tone throughout the writing, but still channelling some excitement. I included a statement from a staff member from PLT to also add authenticity, and to show readers that PLT have been planning this event for a while and have been considering all factors. I ensured to use the brands logo, and a simple colour for the overall press release design.
Audio: Podcast
Annotations of Podcast:
I have chosen to create a Podcast for PLT named ‘The Ladies lounge’ for those who enjoy discussing fashion and sharing their opinions on celebrities and influencers. PLT is a women’s fashion retailer so calling it the ladies lounge seemed appropriate here. I aimed to keep a light-hearted and natural tone throughout the audio, so listeners feel welcomed and comfortable to listen to the podcast for a long duration of time. I felt the introduction I created could be used to introduce all further episodes as its short and concise, highlighting the aim of the podcast. I also used the ‘Proud family’ theme tune, to introduce the podcast, not only because it is a joyful song, but I felt the words ‘proud family’ applied to the ‘PLT family’ including consistent loyal customers and frequently listeners. Using the song consistently throughout the podcast felt too overwhelming so i faded the sound out slowly, ending it once the ‘hot topic’ of the day was announced. Upon evaluation, I feel my tone could have sounded slightly less scripted for a more effective outcome, and it would be better to include a second member to join the podcast to create more flowing conversation for a more appealing watch.
Mood board: For an event

Annotations of Mood board:
I have chosen to plan a Valentine’s themed event intended to celebrate the launch of PLT’s new Valentine’s collection. As PLT only sell women’s fashion, I decided to make the interior very feminine and girly as this theme can be seen on their website and social media too. Therefore, I focused on using colours that range from deep reds to lighter pinks, I did this so it would appeal to every age group but have connotations of this being a cute, yet fun event intended to be full of positive energy and empowerment. Red is sophisticated and sexy whilst pink is still cute and light-hearted, but overall, both colours have connotations of love. I wanted the event to show off PLT’s ability to entertain their shoppers, so I chose to include different types of activities that both the younger and older generation would like, and something for those who bring their children, family or friends. As it’s a pop-up shop, full meals didn’t seem appropriate in this context so I opted for smaller nibbles and brunch style meals to be available, but also alcohol for an older audience who may spend a longer time there – examples might include Prosecco, Aperol spritz, Hugo spritz. I created small phrases that could be used around the venue as decoration but also as potential photo opportunities. I wanted a focus on areas that were made with the intention of people taking pictures that they’d post on social media, ideally tagging PLT to further promote the event. For that reason, I used images of big decorations for every room, even including the bathroom. If I were to do this again, I could investigate the smaller details about the event and plan it further, looking into the types of music would be played, the influencers who might attend and potential brand collaborations.
Film/video:
Annotations of TikTok :
When creating my TikTok, I wanted to ensure that the video would appeal to the demographic of women who typically shop at Pretty Little Thing. Therefore, I choose to make a ‘Get ready with me’ as they are a popular type of video on TikTok and typically gain a lot of views. When looking at similar videos, I noticed many questions around the products the influencer was using, therefore I chose to add small clips of each product I used. I chose to use a voice over, to keep viewers engaged but also to allow the video to feel more personal. I felt it would enhance the authenticity and viewers ability to relate with what was happening. Also, the use of different angles kept the video engaging and overall, more appealing to watch possibly giving it a more professional feel. When choosing the music, I wanted to use a sound that was trending or had been frequently used on the app, to keep viewers further engaged and watching the TikTok until the end. In all clips, I used a small light on the warm setting for a higher quality video. If I were to do this again, I would potentially move the camera closer to me in certain shots so there is range in angles and shot sizes. I primarily used long and medium shots at eye level though it does vary.
